In this webinar, Dr. Nicola Pusterla (PhD, Diplomate ACVIM and AVDC-Equine) and Dr. Ben Sykes (BSc BVMS MSc MBA DipACVIM PhD FHEA) discussed external factors that can factor your molecular and culture results, comparing culture and PCR results, and case studies of discrepant results and how a clinical diagnosis was reached.

Molecular testing for equine pathogens using technologies such as point-of-care PCR is becoming increasingly popular. However, like all testing technologies, the reliability of the result is dependent on a wide range of variables, including: the clinical status of the patient, its shedding status, the location of sampling and the quality of the sample, and the accuracy of the testing technology used. Interpreting the results you receive can be complicated with conflicting answers; this webinar covers why this can happen, and how to proceed with the information presented.
